Privacy Policy

The short version
- No accounts, no sign-in, no names, no email addresses, no passwords.
- No ads. We never sell or share data for advertising.
- We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data to fix bugs and improve the app, stored in the European Union.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
This policy explains what information the PopPond app ("PopPond", "the app", "we") handles and why. The app runs on your device, and we keep data collection to the minimum the app needs to work and improve.
Information we collect
We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data, which is not tied to a real-world identity. We use PostHog, a product analytics service, hosted on its European Union infrastructure. Through it we process:
- App interaction events, such as opening a book or tapping a card to hear a word.
- App preferences, such as the selected Arabic dialect, the display language, and the app edition.
- Technical information, such as app version, operating system, device type, and a randomly generated identifier created on your device. PostHog may process an IP address while delivering its service, which can be used at most for coarse country-level location and is not used by us to identify a person.
- Session recordings of in-app interaction (taps and screen navigation), to help us find and fix usability problems. The app has no text-input fields, so recordings cannot capture typed personal information.
We use this information only to operate, debug, and improve the app. We do not use it to identify individuals or to advertise.
Information we do not collect
- No accounts and no login. We do not ask for or store names, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords.
- No precise location.
- No access to your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
- No third-party ads and no advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell personal information.
Purchases
- The app offers optional one-time purchases to unlock additional content. There are no subscriptions.
- All payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their own terms and privacy policies.
- We never receive or store your payment-card details or store account credentials.
- Unlocked content is remembered on your device. We keep no server-side record of purchases.
Service providers
We share data only with the providers needed to run the app, and only for that purpose:

Apple and Google handle their own data under their respective privacy policies, which apply to your use of the App Store and Google Play.
Data retention
Anonymous analytics and session recordings are retained only as long as they are useful for understanding and improving the app, after which they are deleted or aggregated. The identifier is generated locally, so reinstalling the app generally starts a fresh, unlinked identifier. Uninstalling the app stops any further data collection.
For users in the EU, EEA, and UK
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the app to process the limited anonymous data described above, and on performance of a contract for purchases. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
